Ingredients

Brownies

  • 1 cup margaine, melted
  • 3 cups white sugar
  • 1 tbsp vanilla extract
  • 4 eggs
  • 1 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1 cup semisweet chocolate chips
  • 1/2 cup chopped walnuts (optional)

Preparation

Preheat oven to 350oF. Lightly grease a 9" x 13" baking dish.
Combine the melted margarine, sugar and vanilla in a large bowl. Beat in the eggs one at a time, mixing well after adding each egg, until thoroughly blended.
Sift together the flour, cocoa powder and salt. Gradually stir the flour mixture into the chocolate mixture until blended. Stir in chocolate chips and walnuts. Spread the batter evenly into the prepared baking dish.
Bake in preheated oven for 35 to 40 minutes. Brownies are done when an inserted toothpick comes out clean.
Remove and cool baking dish on wire rack before slicing brownies and removing from dish.
