Recipe courtesy Blue Band
  • 2 lbs Split Peas Powder
  • 1 - 2 drops yellow colouring
  • 2 tsp Baking Powder
  • Water (for texture)
  • 1/2 can condensed milk
  • 2 lbs Blue Band Margarine (4 Blue Band Margarine 227g bricks)
  • Sizzola oil for frying

For Sugar Syrup:

  • 3 lbs sugar
  • 6 cups water


  1. Mix split peas powder, colouring and baking powder
  2. Add water until mixture is soft
  3. Use a sifter and sift mixture into hot oil
  4. Fry until golden brown
  5. Grind until a powder is formed
  6. Place into a large mixing bowl
  7. Add condensed milk and Blue Band Margarine
  8. For sugar syrup, combine sugar and boiling water and stir until it forms a thick syrup
  9. Add sugar syrup and mix together
  10. Using mixture, form into balls
